The Office

Nazym and her husband were living in Dubai when they decided to buy a house in Tuscany. Her husband is Italian, which they had assumed would make the process straightforward.

It took the better part of a year. The search was slow because no one involved in it was working for them; the professionals around the purchase answered to the transaction rather than to the buyer, and a great deal went unexplained because explaining it was nobody’s job. None of this was unusual, which was the more useful lesson.

The family moved to Italy the following year, and The Tuscan was founded on what the experience had taught them — how the better estates actually change hands, which professionals are worth keeping, and where a foreign buyer is exposed without knowing it.

Nazym came to the office from hospitality: a discipline of anticipating what a family will need, and holding the arrangements so that they never have to.

She speaks Russian and Kazakh natively, along with English, Turkish and Italian, and advises families directly in any of the five — including at the notaio, where the difference between following a deed and merely signing it matters most.

The Tuscan is not an estate agency. It holds no listings, represents no sellers, and is deliberately not registered as a mediator, because it does not mediate. It is paid by the families it works for, and by no one else.
